2018 WRUG: What We Learned

2018 WRUG What We Learned-1005x670

The opening remarks by Kelly Robison, CEO of Brown & Toland Physicians, set the tone for this year’s WRUG (Western Region User Group for GE Centricity Business Users) summer/fall meeting. Kelly spoke passionately about the importance of supporting Physicians as the healthcare market evolves. Brown & Toland, with over 2,400 Physicians in the Bay Area, is focused on meeting Physicians where they want to be met, for example practicing independently, being employed, or a hybrid of the two. Population Health Management, Value-based Care and treating patients holistically, regardless of insurance coverage, were discussed in detail. Flexibility and proactivity were themes that echoed throughout the conference.

While many sessions were user-focused and technical in nature, it was clear WRUG members (and their organizations) are demanding more of vendors as their businesses evolve. One illustrative example is a product that has been utilized by the WRUG user base for years–the claim scrubber.

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to present to the group on the “Evolution of a Claim Scrubber.” This session highlighted the shift in reimbursement (i.e., moving away from a sole focus on fee-for-service billing towards a hybrid approach that includes pay-for-value) and how a claim scrubber can support this shift. The WRUG members undoubtedly recognize the changing reimbursement landscape as many have Population Health Management programs in place and are actively working on HCC Coding initiatives. We look forward to continuing to support this progressive user community whether in fee-for-service, pay-for value or both.

Thank you to Brown & Toland Physicians for hosting, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Walnut Creek, CA and will see everyone at the Spring meeting.
